  • Ximedica Moves Into Newly Remodeled Office Space

XIMEDICA, the leading medical technologies development firm, relocated its Minneapolis office to Plymouth and selected Sever Construction Company to do develop the new space.

“The relocation comes as a result of the company’s extraordinary growth over the past few years. We’re proud to say Ximedica’s workforce has increased to employing 270 people across the U.S. and in Hong Kong,” says Randall S. Barko, Ximedica’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

The new 19,000 square feet of office space, located at 2840 Vicksburg Lane in Plymouth, MN, was a great project project for Sever to work on - from initial design concepts, to contracting, to finishing touches.

Adds Barko, “We’re excited to open our doors in Plymouth.” Click to check out all the images from this project on in our gallery.

  • $5.5 Million Stericycle Construction Project Now Complete

Stericycle has grown from a small start-up in medical waste management into a leader across a range of increasingly complex and highly regulated arenas, including compliance and sustainability waste services, brand protection solutions, and customer contact solutions. That growth created the need for a better facility with an entire project budget of $5,500,000.

The foundation of the project was a former CMU building, supported by a steel roof structure, that had been empty for a least 5 years and in disrepair. Overall dimensions were 165’ x 290’ with saw tooth docks on the west side and drive-in docks north and south. The project included several dimensions:

Demolition – Sever demoed the precast mezzanine and removed the entire office structure and walls. We then cut in 6 new loading docks with pits, levelers and dock seals and added 2 oversize drive-in docks for dumpsters.

Office – The 6,300 sq. ft. office portion of the build out included private offices, conference room, break areas, locker rooms and showers.

Plant – Sever did a complete renovation of existing 42,000 sq. ft. warehouse into a medical waste recycle plant including autoclaves, boiler room, washers of all types to clean containers and storage materials. It also included first-of-its-kind robots to handle needles and sharp objects that was previously handled by employees. Stericycle also purchased Shred-it which required the development of an 1,800 sq. ft. secured area with fencing and visual barriers to protect sensitive documents.

Exterior – The exterior improvement to the Stericycle building include new windows, storefront entrances, all new frames and drive doors, enclosure of 4 saw tooth docks, a wash down dock to clean semi-trailers and capture potential medical waste.

Civil – Extensive soils corrections were completed to accomodate for the consistent heavy duty traffic.

Landscape – All new landscaping was added with sod, plantings, trees and fencing for security.

We are proud to have worked with Stericycle on the project and the work accomplished by everyone involved. See the complete photo gallery of this project in our Gallery section.

  • Sever Supports The Community

Here are some the organizations that Sever Construction Company has provided our time, talent or treasure toward:

    NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic

On June 26th, Sever will once again be participating in the NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic. The tournament will be held on the Jack Nicklas Signature Course at Bearpath Golf & Country Club in Eden Prairie, MN.

As a Preferred Hole Sponsor, the team at Sever will have the opportunity to golf with an NFL Alumni Player as well as have a tent on the course to meet and greet all the players.

What makes this event so special to us is that all proceeds benefit local children's charities in the Twin Cities including: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Children's Cancer Research Fund, Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge, Vikings Children's Fund, and many more

We hope to see you on the course!

    Habitat for Humanity

In April, Sever Construction teamed up with Duke Realty on a Habitat for Humanity Event. Together we worked on rehabbing an existing home in North Minneapolis for a family in need.

In the Twin Cities metro area, more than half a million people (20% of the population), must spend too much of their income on housing. This percentage is growing faster in Minnesota than in any other state.

By helping with this project, an others throughout the Twin Cities, Habitat for Humanity is helping to provide stability to communities and improve the lives of hard working families. We are proud to have joined the team from Duke Realty in such a great cause.

    CornerHouse

This year Sever is again supporting the community work of CornerHouse. CornerHouse is a great community resource that is on the frontlines of child abuse; assuring that the voices of children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults are heard. CornerHouse is also valued as an industry resource; teaching and sharing best practices, observations, and techniques in forensic interviewing.

Join them for the 26th Annual CornerHouse Fundraising Event on June 20th at the Farmers Market Annex Event Center in Minneapolis, followed by a Twins game. This fun event is a family gathering with activities for the kids, a picnic dinner in the summer outdoors, a silent auction and raffle, and beer provided by Rock Bottom Brewery.
